Start the day off with check-in at Seaside Adventures, then board one of our vessels for a half-hour boat ride from Tofino and travel 15 kms north to the remote, Aboriginal (First Nations) Village of Marktosis. The village is located in the northern portion of Clayoquot Sound on Flores Island, which is the largest island in the sound. From here we walk through part of the village to the start of the Wild Side trail. Our trail takes us through 11 kms of pristine wilderness and spectacular Pacific Ocean beaches. The beaches range from quiet serene coves to rugged surf pounded beaches. The trail is made up of hand hewn cedar boardwalk and natural trails, which connects 8 beautiful white sandy beaches and natural trails.

While on the Wildside trail we will be traveling by the summer feeding bays of the Grey Whale and a multitude of wild life and bird life, which live in the old growth forest. Our naturalist guides are optional and take pride in sharing explanations of local flora and fauna. Also the guides are well versed in areas that are rich with native history and folklore. For the more energetic hiker they can continue on an additional 4-kms to the top of Mt. Flores, which has a height of 3,000 feet or 970 meters. The views from there are breathtaking and second to none.

Along the way to and from Tofino, stops may be made for the local marine wild life, eagle and their aeries, Great Blue Herons, seals, sea-lions and spot the porpoise, which are abundant in the area.

Bird watching is an important part of all Seaside Adventure tours. Our guides will stop at an off-shore Bird sanctuary, where 9 different species of birds share the rocky island to nest and breed. Here are just a few of the birds represented in the Clayoquot region.
