TOFINO BEAR WATCHING
Marine Eco-Cruise
(2 person minimum)
Abundant to the West Coast of Vancouver Island, the Black Bear makes
its presence known when the tides are low. They roam the shores in search
of their favorite delicacy, the Rock Crab. These moments offer grand
opportunities to view the Black Bear in their natural habitat.
We start once daily from April 20 though October 10.
In this special tour
we will cruise the sheltered inlets of Clayoquot Sound at low tide,
to find black bears foraging for food on beaches. You will observe the
bears by boat.
Although not guaranteed, the success rate is very high.
Bald eagles, Harbour seals, porpoises, blue herons, even raccoons may
"join" the tour! We travel by ancient temperate rain forests that range
in age from 700 years to 1500 years old. As well, plenty of marine life
can be seen from the boats.
Our First Nation and local guides take pride
in sharing scientific, historic and native folklore throughout the entire
cruise.
Total trip time is approximately 2 to 2 ½ hours in length.
Cameras are a must. Things to bring: dress warm, camera, film, binoculars,
sunscreen and sunglasses.
